Teesside's Marine Life

Years of exploitation have led to the perception of an empty and lifeless North Sea, but take the time to delve below the surface and youll find an astonishing array of weird and wonderful creatures. Hidden below the surface of Teessides coastal waters are kelp parks, sandy plains and rocky reefs, all of which support a diverse range of species. Crabs, squat lobsters and starfish live alongside beautifully coloured sea anemones, sponges and sea slugs. The following guide provides just a small glimpse of the marine life and habitats that can be found below our waves.
