FRED Attacks Coatham Marshes Sunday 15th March 10am

Posted on 9th March 2015

FRED, Zetland Pride, Friends of Dormanstown, Dormanstown Group, have come together to tackle the fly tipping and litter problem Redcar faces around a natural reservation.

Coatham Marshes has been a Nature reserve since 1982. The land is owned by SSI and managed by the Tees Wildlife Trust. However, they are unable to keep up with the anti social behaviour and the amount of litter that blows in from afar.

Our four community groups have been organising on social media and through leaflet drops to tackle the problem. The probation service, volunteers and 1st Choice Skips have agreed to support the action. RCBC will collect all the waste bags.

We are hoping to gather over 100 volunteers and hope that this action will demonstrate to our authorities how important our open spaces are, how much people desire more effort at tackling litter and fly tipping and just how important our home is to us.
