The Guisborough valley once had not just one railway, but, for a while, two "main lines" and a lot of branches for various long-forgotten mines. Starting at Pinchinthorpe, we'll have a look at some of them, and find out something of their surprising history. The walk will go up on to the hills to the north and return for about 3 p.m. Steve Ashton will be on hand to guide us about the flora and fauna we may encounter. Bring suitable walking boots, clothing, and a packed lunch. There will be a hill to climb.
