The Cleveland Way at Hummersea and Boulby were very important production centres for Alum. Of particular importance is the work of Lewis Hunton and the stratified layering on the cliff face. As we progress along the Hummersea scar we will see the new gut and old gut channels and rock cut features on the foreshore providing evidence of the shipping of Alum. This fascinating walk will be guided by a local historian, with the walk lasting around 4 hours. Refreshments will be available too
