15th February 2018, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Starting at Loftus Leisure Centre the walk will explore people’s memories of school nature walks, nature learning and nature books before setting off to explore stories and memories of childhood fun and games in the woods in the Loftus by listening to excerpts from oral history recordings. We will hear about intrepid speleologists, big game hunters, explosive experts and roman steps and explore changes to the local scenery using maps and archive images. Participants will be tasked with recording the wildlife seen and sharing their own memories of childhood adventures.
Please dress warmly and appropriately for being outdoors in the winter and wear appropriate footwear. Footpaths may be wet and muddy and certain sections are quite steep. Walking sticks are recommended. Bring a hot drink and a snack and don’t forget your camera.
