Come and be a part of an exciting programme of work to improve the newly tidal Ormesby Beck at Middle Marsh Nature Reserve

The removal of the tidal barrage downstream of Middle Marsh Nature Reserve by the Environment Agency is breathing new life into the lower reaches of Ormesby Beck.

Although removal of the barrage improves access to Ormesby Beck for fish and enables re-establishment of the estuary further upstream, the current condition of the woodland on either side of the beck does not lend itself to recolonisation by plants or as nursery and spawning grounds for fish.

For this event we will be carrying out selective thinning of trees either side of the beck to increase the amount of light reaching the beck and intertidal mudflats where we can expect many more native species to recolonise in the coming years.

Please contact Ian via email at [email protected] for more information and to book onto the event.
