Naturally Native Young Rangers – December

Naturally Native Young Rangers are a group of young people aged 14 – 18 who want to be part of the recovery of Britain’s fastest declining mammal, the water vole, and secure its future here in the North East.

Each month, we will undertake exciting practical at various locations to help the water vole’s recovery, and will include activities such as scrub clearance, coppicing, wetland management, removing invasive species, wildlife surveys, constructing and installing wildlife monitoring equipment, and much much more!

The sessions are inclusive to all and encourage team working and problem solving. Perfect if you love nature or being outdoors and a great way to achieve your Duke of Edinburgh or John Muir Awards!

 

What’s happening in December?!

As this will be only our second gathering, we’ll be meeting at the wonderful Margrove Hertiage Centre again. We’ll have a quick recap on tools use, and we’ll then head into the woods to put our new woodland management skills into action. There will also be plenty of opportunity to chat over hot drinks and biscuits to get to know one-another.

Booking is essential. Please bring a packed lunch, drink and clothes suitable for working outdoors.
